Gravity drip irrigation (drip irrigation without pump)

Introduction :

Gravity drip irrigation is a new method of irrigation in which instead of providing pressure with a pump, the necessary energy is obtained from the difference in water level at the beginning and end of the field.

The total amount of energy required by these systems is between 1 and 3 meters of water height, which can be provided by placing a tank with a suitable volume on a platform with a suitable height, which is said to be suitable for farms up to one hundred hectares, but I do not agree. .

I think this method is suitable for small plots, I personally evaluated the 8-hectare pistachio orchard that could be irrigated with this method, and the result was good. (Magsal-Qazvin Agriculture and Industry)

If the main source of water supply is the well, this height can be easily provided by the pressure of the well pump. And if the source of water supply is surface water, the water transmission line should be designed from above so that this height is 2 to 3 meters above the ground, thus preventing over-pumping.

The pipes used in these systems due to their very low working pressure can be completely different from the pipes used in pressurized irrigation, ie it is possible to use pipes with less PN. The use of water filters and special fertilizers can also be designed in these systems.
